Class Description:
My classroom is made up of 13 wonderful students from the North Central Philadelphia area. The school's mission is to help families from a low-income, low-wealth community get access to a high quality education. My students come to class every day excited to learning, and the technology on digital wish would only help to strengthen their learning.
Position:
3rd Grade Teacher
Needs:
My students would really benefit from flip video cameras. We have a classroom website called digital diary that tracks their learning. The video component would be an amazing way to keep them excited,and would help their parents see firsthand what we are working on inside the classroom.
My Philosophy:
I believe that learning should be rigorous, relevant, and engaging. Information should be presented in a way that allows students to relate and see the importance in what they are learning. Also, the teacher should facilitate the presentation of material and discussions in a variety of ways. By taking this approach, students of all types will have the opportunity to feel successful.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I am entering my fourth year of teaching, and have had a diverse teaching career thus far. I spent a year teaching American Indian students at a boarding school in Pierre, South Dakota, and then spent two years teaching at a Leadership Magnet School in Raleigh, NC. Both experiences have offered so many wonderful opportunities, and I look forward to the opportunities that have yet to come.
College and Degrees:
The Pennsylvania State University - Bachelors in Elementary Education Currentlyin the University of Pennsylvania's School Leadership Masters Program.
Activities:
Running, playing guitar, spending time outdoors with my wife and our two dogs, and spending time with my family.
