Bell Senior High School
Hometown:
Bell, California
Class Information:
Room Number: 207
Students per Class: 160
Class Description:
I teach two periods of English 10 and three periods of Contemporary Composition. My students read and write between the 3rd and 5th grade reading levels, so providing them with engaging activities to build in literacy is crucial.
Position:
Teacher & English Dept. Chair
Needs:
My classes have both special education and English language learners mixed in with the general education students. There is a great need for technology. Currently, we have one printer in the room and you can only print using a usb flash drive which must be in the pdf format. We have two computers in the room. My students would benefit from having laptops in the classroom and a working printer, but honestly I will take any technology that I can get to assist my students with their learning needs.
My Philosophy:
With the use of art, music, and theater all students can learn and attain the highest level of literacy.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I graduated from Bell Senior High School in 1990. After my completion of my BA in both English and Music, I attained a position at the high school where I graduated and went on to receive my single subject teaching credential in the English Language. Currently, I am also the English Department Chair. My first is Greek and I remember my struggling to learn the English language. The thing that helped me most in gaining the command of the English language was without question anything that had to do with the ARTS (i.e., music, theater, and graphic arts).
