Kindness starts with you. My classroom is run by being fair yet stern. I believe in procedures not rules. All students need is more practice. School is just practice. That's what I say so the ones whom got wrong answers know its just practice so let's keep trying. I want to supply that in a fun, energic and interactive atmosphere.

About Me:
Once my daughters grew up. I was lonely at home so I got a job as a dishwasher at their school. From there I worked my way up & went back to school. I graduated with my BA at age 40 in 1998 and became a teacher. Now I have my Masters in Reading Education.
College and Degrees:
Florida Atlantic University Elementary Education(1-6) Englishto speakers of other languages (ESOL) endorsement. Masters in Reading Education
Activities:
Still taking classes. In a class right now about how to use a Promethean Board. There are a few teachers at my school who have one and once I learn.Maybe I can practice on their board if they let me. I'm involved with Big brother and Big sister here in Stuart, Florida. Amy Price and I work together so I can get my students a Big to work with them. Most of all the Big's stay with my students through their school years here. That is very rewarding to see. It makes me cry., It's all about LOVE and how it can change people/students. These mentors do a fabulous job.
Favorite Books:
My favorite books are cookbooks. I love to cook. I also love to read Home improvement books and magazines because I am a Betty goodwrench. I can fix just about anything. That's what happens when you are a tomboy.

Interests:
cooking, fishing and gardening. My husband and I are always doing a home improvement job. Soon as we are done we jump in our boat and try to catch dinner. SNOOK fishing is what I like best.
Employment History:
Worked with Martin County School District since 1991 as a dishwasher , milk lady, cashier, teachers assistant, then finally in 1998 as a Teacher. In 2004, I received my masters in Reading Education.
Why Do I Teach?:
I'm a 52 year old kid. I love school. Once my daughters grew up. I realized what I wanted to be. A teacher. I love explaining & modeling skills needed to be a productive student & citizen. I have lots of patience and most of all LOVE. I want to help my students feel good about themselves and to know kindness starts with you. I have a community inside my classroom of caring students. I just want to reach each and every one with my lessons. I'm a funny and dramatic teacher. I know I'm competing with video games, MTV etc... So I try to be as engaging as I can be. It's not just about being exciting and funny as I think I am. I want to stimulate them to learn more, do more. I'm not always going to be there for them so I want to build their foundationof learning. So I feel I need up to date technology to inpire my students, make learning fun and most of all interactive.
