Class Description:
My class is awesome. I teach basic computer skills. We also learn Microsft Office. What is cool about my class is I use my psychology background to help increase self- esteem. We learn about ourselves, 6 Pillars of character, motivational thoughts and about highly effective teens. I have outside visitors come and give presentations about how computers are used in the real world. We also learn about gadgets and how to use them. I supply them all. Any help you can give is very appreciated.

We need flash drives, a data projector, Smart Board, presentation clicker, clip art programs, blank CDS, a host for a web site, cameras, video camera. We appreciate anything you give us.

About Me:
Thanks for reading. My name is Susan. I do not have my own children and look at my students as my own. I am very active in helping them in any way I can. I buy uniforms, food, glasses and supply gadgets in my classroom. I am an idealist who believes in actually making a difference in the world and not just talking about it. I work in a poor school district but we are rich in our hearts. I have 2 cats, a big family, many close friends I have had for years. I believe in hope, kindness, loyalty and helping others. I am 37 years old but I look and feel much younger. The kids renew my energy.
College and Degrees:
I have an Associates of Arts in Psycholgy- Cum Laude Bachelors of Science in Psychology- Magna Cum Laude Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education- Magna Cum Laude Masters in the Art of Teaching 3.8
Activities:
I like dancing (East Coast, Salsa, Cha-Cha, Rhumba), reading, watching interior design shows, CSI and Law and Order. I like animals and kids and they like me too. I like naps and yoga (not together of course), gardening and prefer to go out to eat instead of cook. I enjoy spending time with friends, family and my students.
Favorite Books:
Anything by Dean Koontz, Patricia Cornwell, Sydney Shelpdon. I like technology books especially Vision books so you can see what to do. I like travelling books and magazines. How to be a better person books are nice too. Anything that motivates or inspires me or my students.

Employment History:
I have been a teacher in Flint for 7 years. I have taught Computers (3 years), Langauge Arts (1 year), Teen Fiction (2 years) and Drama (1 year). Before that I did my student teaching in Utica.
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I believe in every single student who walks in my room. I work in an urban area and sometimes my students do not have people who believe in them. Last year was the heardest year- I had to bury 4 of my students under 15. I had to get through it even though it was hard because I know the ones still alive need me. I get up and go into work smiling because I know it is where I belong. Those kids need someone to say, "Hey! You matter. I don't care if you have made bad choices in the past. Start making good ones now. You can be all you want to be and even more if you believe." I teach because in 100 years it will not matter what my car was, or what my house was or what clothes I wore but it may matter that I made a difference in the life of a child. ( Iread that somewhere and liked it!).
