Spaulding High School
Class Information:
Students per Class: 1600+
Class Description:
In the role of School-to-Career Coordinator, I coordinate work-based learning activities for students in a large, public high school. Through informational interviews, job shadows, internships, cooperative education, and work experience students gain real world experience. Having an opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills gained in the classroom, within the career fields that they are interested in provides students with direct evidence that supports the importance of becoming lifelong learners. My role as the instructor for the Future Educators Academy (FEA) is new for the 2009-10 school year. The FEA program seeks to recruit, train and retain our best and brightest students...in the hopes that they will become successful educators in the future. Without teachers, where would the world be? The students are as diverse as 1600+ unique individuals can be! I meet new students on a daily basis and gaining an understanding of who they are and how we (the SHS community) can help them become successful in setting and reaching their life and career goals is why I enjoy going to school every day!
Needs:
Technology to utilize in the FEA classroom! Specifically a digital video camera and tripod. Also, a bluetooth equipped PC dedicated to the FEA classroom.
