ELA
I teach English / Language Arts to fourth and fifth graders.
I also teach a phonetic intervention group.
We are a very rural community in Southeast Louisiana. Our parish has a high rate of illitercy among adults. Therefore it is vital we "close the gap" through our young people.
Needs:
We do a lot of hands-on actiities to increase comprehension skills.
I need basics: markers, manila paper, colored paper, glue sticks, crayons, etc.
My Philosophy:
The future of our nation rests solely on the minds of our young people. We are no longer a nation carried by the backs of our citizenry. We must develop our greatest resource - the human resource.
