Need:
Our goal is to raise enough money to get 6 iPads (3 for both of our campuses) to supplement our lesson plans and increase our students' exposure to technology.
Ourschool has students from all corners of the world, ranging from: Afghanistan, Nepal, Burma, Bosnia, India, and more. With such diversity, we want to give our students exposure to 21st century tools so that they may be globally competitive in academics and achieve greater opportunities in their future.
Case:
Ourmedia centers at both campuses are currently out-of-date and constantly needs repairs from our IT department (which is actually one person).
Our eMacs have discontinued support from Apple and can no longer run essential programs that run on Adobe Flash. When engaging in Flash related sites ranging from BrainPop Jr. to YouTube, our computers crash or face lag-time issues.
My Philosophy:
ICS curriculum follows the Georgia Performance Standards taught within the framework of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. A challenging international program, the IBPYP enables students to employ an investigative, inquiry-based approach to learning. English, mathematics, science, and social studies are taught in this integrated framework, emphasizing cross-disciplinarythinking, problem-solving and personal wellness.
Furthersetting ICS apart is the commitment to every child studying art, music and physical education as a part of their regular instruction.
Allstudents also study a second language. Native speakers of languages other than English must go through a rigorous ESL program before joining their classmates in either French or Spanish.

Why Do I Teach?:
The ICS focus is on educating the whole child, seeking to develop the innate curiosity of our students while celebrating cultural differences in a challenging, nurturing and intentionally multi-ethnic environment.
Withthe dedication of our faculty and staff, the steadfast support of parents and the larger community, ICS has created a learning environment second to none despite the challenge of inadequate facilities, substandard equipment and non-competitive salaries.
We fiercely protect our students' right to music, art, language, physical education and recess while insisting that they meet progress requirements in language arts, social sciences, mathematics and earth science.
