We are a small urban charter school which consists of Hmong, Hispanic, African-American and Caucasian students. I teach technology to the entire student body. Being a Title I school, most of our students do not have access to technology outside of a school or library.
Becauseour students have had little practice with computers, they are somewhat unsophisticated when using technology compared to their peers in the suburban schools. Having access to equipment allows us to use technology to practice using computer applications. These children face many obstacles in their lives because of the lack of resources in their home environment. We need to give them the advantages their peers enjoy in order to level the playing field. My wonderful students deserve this.
My Philosophy:
I want kids and teachers to have fun learning together. I have always lived by the saying: "A laughing brain is more absorbent"
Personal Information:
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I love to help kids reach their potential. I work with teachers to enhance their lessons with technology. The other part of my job is to help these teachers effectively implement strategies to improve mathematics understanding.
