Epson PowerLite LCD Projector, $999.95, 0.00% raised
Epson PowerLite LCD Projector Rank:
Single Unit Why I need this:
Sometimes you just don't want to share. I have access to a projector at my school, but if I had one of my own, I would use it every day. It is great for showing students websites, doing Power Point Presentations (not just me - my kids love to teach), and to do lessons with the interactive white board.
Quantity: 1 Price: $999.95

Position:
teacher
Needs:
With a limited amount of some great equipment shared among 40 plus classrooms, it isn’t always available when you want it. The school currently has no hand held recorders. It would be great to use a projector almost daily for lessons, to have digital handheld recorders and a set of student cameras for student projects, a document camera and an interactive white board for engaging lessons as well as more student computers. It is so much easier to have technological equipment ready at hand when teaching students. It allows for flexibility when students get excited and you have a way to keep the momentum going, it is sad to find the equipment you want and need for a lesson is in use elsewhere or is not available in the school.
My Philosophy:
I’m working with students who have the potential to make great contributions to the world. They need practice integrating and communicating ideas using technological equipment. Our school may be rural, but our world is becoming more connected. My students need to be quipped with the skills to be a part of it!
Personal Information:
About Me:
I first became involved in education by volunteering at my children's preschool and elementary. I observed first hand how important teachers are in children's lives. Having left the corporate world to devote time to my own young children, I knew that the time to return to the workforce was coming. The change from the corporate boardroom to the classroom came as a result of considering what I wanted my life to account for. Teaching offers me an opportunity to better the community and to provide for future leaders of our county. I continue to take classes in gifted education as well as technology and attend a plethora of conferences and workshops in gifted education, science, math, and technology. In the past I have enjoyed serving as school web master, science & Chesapeake Bay contact person, public relations contact person, and serving on many committees in our school division.
College and Degrees:
BA in Business Administration from Wittenberg University in Ohio Teaching Certificate from Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia Master Degree in Elementary Education with a focus on Math and Science for Gifted students from the University of Virginia
Activities:
I love to cycle and see much of the county side pedaling my bike. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends. I water ski, enjoy the theater and music, and read when I have down time.
Favorite Books:
There are so many! Recently I've enjoyed Outliers by Malcom Gladwell and Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson.
Interests:
Cycling, Board and Card Games, my Community
Employment History:
I've been a Cost Analyst and Plant Accountant before becoming a teacher. I taught 2 years in a private school and am in my 16th year of public education.
Why Do I Teach?:
Today’s youth are the future of our country. As such, they need to be good thinkers, communicators, and managers in an ever changing world. I strive to help students gain the skills they will need to be successful in life. Technology is big part of this and they love to it!
