Class Description:
I have a pretty gifted class this year. It consists of 11 boys and 7 girls with a range in diversity. I have one special needs student who is adjusting well in the classroom. Unfortunately I do not have computers inside my class. I am working on getting some for my students. I feel that allowing them to use technology helps them expand their learning.

Needs:
I feel that my class needs to have a wide range of learning activities to help challenge their minds. Having cameras or any other type of technology to help them reach beyond the normal learning activities and to be able to use their imagination will help them succeed.
Personal Information:
About Me:
My name is Jennifer Datema and I have been married for a year in October. We have a very spunky dog named Hogan who is spoiled. I have three sisters, two older and one younger. For the most part we get along and enjoy each others company. I also have four nieces and two nephews that I love spending time with. I am in my fifth year of teaching kindergarten. I absolutely love teaching and I am eager to learn more to help me enhance my students learning. I am the assistent coach for girls basketball for 5th and 6th grade. This is my first year and I am enjoying every minute.
College and Degrees:
I have a bacholers in education with a kindergarten endorsement. I am in the process of getting my masters and will be done in June 08'.
Activities:
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy working with children. I play basketball and I workout on a regular basis.
Interests:
I am interested in learning more about how I can improve my students learning.
Employment History:
I worked as a waitress at Don Pablo's and Chicago Steak House for a total of 7 years. I also bartended at Heartland for three years. I was a teller at First Source Bank. And I have been teaching now for 5 years.
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach for the children. They are the most important part of teaching. I also enjoy doing it. It isn't work to me, it is valuable time spent with children who need me.
