Class Description:
My class is made up evenly of African-American,Caucasian, and Hispanic students. I do have twice as many boys as girls, which makes it interesting. We are a neighborhood magnet school for Health & Wellness. Most of my students have attended this school for most of their elementary years. Our focus is the health and well-being of the whole child. We have been part of the Eat, Exercise, and Excel program for three years. Our school recognizes how important diet and exercise are to achieving academic success.

My Philosophy:
I believe all children can learn. They may learn differently from others, but they can learn. My goal is to help each child I teach to learn what they must know to be successful in their future school years and their life. I have to look at each child as an individual and what is best for that one student. By doing my very best for each one, I will be doing my best for all of them.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I started my teaching career late in life. I was the stay at home mom who was involved in all the school activities of my three children. I earned my degree almost at the same time as one of my children. I've always enjoyed being around children and also enjoyed reading and learning. I thought teaching was a perfect fit for me. I was right! I love teaching and can't think of any other occupation I would rather have. Year to year I am surprised and amazed at the students that come into my room. I also feel greatly rewarded by the students who return to visit and let me know I made a difference to them. That's what it is all about, isn't it? Making a Difference!

Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I love helping students discover the world they live in through books, interacting with others, and technology. I have found that most of my students are amazed at what the future may hold for them. Opening their eyes to the opportunities they can have with an education, no matter what their economic or racial status is very fulfilling. Each successful step they take in education, leads them towards achieving a more successful life.
