LEEP formally incorporated in 2001 as a 501© (3) non-profit organization in South Carolina with the mission of providing access to outdoor, hands-on environmental education to students in Charleston and the surrounding area in order that students may become better critical thinkers and good stewards of the environment. LEEPs founders, staff, and volunteers employ experiential teaching methods as a way to build problem solving skills, focus, and academic achievement for Lowcountry students. LEEP focuses on providing educational opportunities at schools with high populations of economically disadvantaged students, many of whom do not have access to outdoor learning opportunities. The organization seeks to eliminate the two main obstacles teachers face in offering their students outdoor educational field trips: 1) the tools and knowledge to provide students with a quality outdoor learning experience and 2) funds for transporting students to and from on-site learning facilities.

We are seeking digital cameras for our classes. We work on personal journals with each student. The camera's will be transported from class to class as we work with various schools in the Charleston area.
