Computer Microphone, $330.00, 0.00% raised
Computer Microphone
Single Unit Why I need this:
In the computer technology lab we use Microsoft Movie Maker to show students how to move beyond powerpoint and create mini movies based on their pictures and clip art. Currently we cannot add student commentary to the projects because we do not have microphones. With Microphones we would be able to overlay student voices to the projects. Without them we just have a high powered slideshow presentation. These would be able to be used in all three labs which would reach over 450 students throughout the year.
Quantity: 30 Price: $11.00

Alexis I DuPont High School
Hometown:
Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania
Class Information:
Room Number: 150
Students per Class: 128
Class Description:
I teach five classes which cover a broad range of business education topics. I teach Business Technology 1,2 &3; Entrepreneurship, and an Advisory.
Position:
Business Education Teacher
Needs:
We have a smart board and Office 2007 thanks to various donations but need small items to help with interesting projects and lessons. Ideally every student should have a flash drive and the computers should have microphones and headsets. We also need items like color printers and scanners to do in class projects.
My Philosophy:
Technology is great but it is not the end all and be all. Don't let technology drive your course, use it to gain the students attention but have the focus be on a topic they can use the rest of their lives. Teach business topics and show how to interject technology uses into the project.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I am the father of two little girls and am in my first year of teaching. I volunteer for my local town commission, am two club advisors for school and am trying to create a school store. I grew up in PA and now live in DE.
College and Degrees:
I graduated from Lehigh University with a BS in Business and Economics in 2001. My major was finance. I graduated from Wilmington University with a Masters of Arts in Secondary Teaching in 2008.
Activities:
I am a father first, then I like to play football, soccer, baseball and some basketball. I volunteer when I can and try to stay active in my community.
Favorite Books:
I liked the series by Terry Goodkind. It was an excellent depiction of mankinds struggles with honesty, group mentality and war. At the same time it was written as a science fiction book that allowed you to ignore the messages and follow the characters.
Interests:
I collect coins and comic books, although I haven't bought any of either lately.
Employment History:
I worked numerous jobs through out my life. I started out working for my family business Belmont Door Co. when I was 15 and worked there until my sophmore year at college. Then I interned at Vanguard while attending Lehigh. After that I found a job at PFPC Inc., now called PNC Global Solutions. At that time I decided I wanted to be a teacher and found a job at Alexis I duPont High School.
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I think I can do the most good here at high school for the students and my children. At the end of the day in the business world all I could say was that I had finished the days work and performed to the best of my ability. Now I can say that about teaching but also can look back and see that I have truly helped a student become something they hadn't considered before whether it was attending college or becoming a manager at a local store. My goal is to help them come out of school with enough business sense to be a success at whatever they do.
