I work as a speech language pathologist and assistive technology specialist in our district and I travel to different schools assisting students, classroom teachers and speech therapists that have special needs. I support classrooms with communication alternatives and classroom lessons for nonverbal students using adapted equipment such as augmentative communication devices, picture wallets and visuals. I try to incorporate realistic pictures of objects, people and events for students to express their needs or experiences with others, especially parents. I also provide trainings to teachers and therapists on the usage of assistive technology and augmentative communication in our district.
Position:
SLP/AT Specialist
Needs:
I need digital cameras with memory sticks and battery packs to train the teachers, students and parents to create meaningful picture displays that can be used by the nonverbal students over multiple environments. I could use a minimum of 5 cameras but, more would be very helpful, if possible. I'd like to use this technology with some of our regular education peers for assistance in creating these communication displays.
