Single Unit Why I need this:
My students often have a difficult time providing supplies due to financial need. One area that we really have a hard time getting from parents is headphones. The fact these can be labeled and kept by the student it teaches responsibility and it would also be helpful in not passing on germs and viruses. With young students they are not always very good about washing their hands, etc to help reduce the spreading of germs. Having their own set would be beneficial.

Needs:
While part of a middle class county, our school is in an area that less fortunate and is very rural. A large percentage of our parents have no college experience and many have not graduated from High School or have a G.E.D. We have one of the highest free and reduce percentages in our county.
My Philosophy:
Every child can learn. It often comes at varying paces for my students. I believe that all my students deserve a chance and to be treated fairly, with love and respect while at the same time providing them with routine and structure.

About Me:
I have been teaching for 18 years!! All my experience has been at First Grade here at Fulks Run Elementary School.
College and Degrees:
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts with a concentration in early education PK-4th grade.
Activities:
I am very involved with my church where I sing and play on a worship team. I also enjoy traveling with my friends, camping and hiking along the way.

Why Do I Teach?:
I feel like I have been called to be a teacher. I have a love for children and enjoy working with them and seeing them learn. It just doesn't get any better for me than watching my students find success. Compassion and care is the name of the game.
