Employment History:
My employment as an art therapist has consisted of working with many people. Over the years, I have had the pleasure to work with many people at various times in their lives. For example, I have provided art therapy to individuals and groups in nursing homes, hospitals, Day treatment programs and public and residental schools.
Why Do I Teach?:
Though I do not have a title as a teacher, my role is to teach and I am often reffered to as a teacher. Why do I teach? Because of my passion for art and its therapeutic effects is one reason. Another, is to be able to provide art and therapy to those around me to provide self development and life tools of self-discovery, building self-esteem (through the use of photography), various modes of self expression (verbal and non-verbal), problem solving skills, development and the for the love of arts. Art Therapy can assist a person through difficult situations and emotions. Each art medium has a therapeutic quality and an art therapist uses the knowledge of the art material and the individual to assist with interests and expression. Using a variety of mediums also helps with allowing students to find their art materials of preference and allowing them to discover their interests. An individual does not have to have "talent" in art. Art as therapy is about the journey and expression. I provide a safe and non-judgemental environment for all of my students and others I have worked with over the years to allow them to feel free to express themselves. What is learned through art is carried throughout life. These are just a few reasons.
