Class Description:
I am teaching five classes of Tenth Grade English and one Photojournalism class and I also sponsor a photography club. All of my students are very creative and quite capable of going beyond expectations especially when engaged in projects that excite and ignite their imaginations.
Position:

Needs:
A digital camera lab would provide more students with opportunities to have hands-on experiences with digital photography and extend students' photography skills. Images collected become part of the student's photo portfolio and will be used in the school newspaper, displays, presentations, and photo contests. A digital camera lab will also heighten our students' visual literacy and photo journalism knowledge.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I have been teaching seventeen years but when I am not teaching I enjoy being with my family. The greatest joy I get is from spending time ejoying my six grandsons ranging in ages from two years to thirteen years old.
College and Degrees:
My college education and degrees earned include: Mastersof Education - Curriculum & Instruction Bachelorof Arts English Currently I am exploring the possibilites of re-entering college and pursuing either a second masters or a doctoral degree. I enjoy learning myself just as I enjoy seeing my students learning.
Activities:
My favorite hobby is desktop publishing and I enjoy making class materials appear appealing as well as useful. After reading some books on web designs, I managed to create a website that extends and supports student learning.
Favorite Books:
Mysteries are my favorite as well as books by John Grisham. I also read to learn by reading technical books on topics such as web design and digital publication.
Employment History:
For seventeen years I have been a teacher in the Houston Independent School District. Currently I am teaching 10th Grade English and Photojournalism, as well as sponsoring a photography club.
Why Do I Teach?:
Teaching for me is a calling, a devotion, and a passion that guides me through each day. I firmly believe that education allows us to have more control over our future. I teach because I want to empower my students so that they have more opportunities available to them, so that they can make intelligent decisions and so that they can carry the torch and make more differences. Eachyear, each class, and each one of my students present new inspirations as well as challenges. It's a wonderful feeling when you can help “tomorrow’s leaders” experience success today. Each young person I help is one more person who can and will make a difference in our community.
