Lake Howell High School
Hometown:
Orlando, FL
Class Information:
Students per Class: 200+ a semester
Class Description:
The class that I am currently teaching is Digital Photo 1,2,3, & 4. It was started in the 2006-2007 school year. The class at first was met with some resistance from kids who wanted darkroom studio but they quickly changed their mind once they found out that the class was going to be about learning photo techniques and learning how to use Photoshop. Now, I have so many students wanting to get into the course that we have another teacher!
Position:
Art & Digital Photo Teacher
Needs:
I am in need of more digital cameras for students who do not own one - how this is possible is beyond me but we do have kids who don't own one. I am also in need of more licenses for a more current version of Photoshop. My kids love that program and are furious that the school has such an old version of the program.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I've been teaching for 10 years - 9 of which have been at the same school. I'm married to my most wonderful husband who I can not function properly without and we own the LOUDEST cat on the planet.
College and Degrees:
I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a BS in Art Ed.
Activities:
I love to read, draw, paint, create... anything that gets my creative juices flowing. I love to watch basketball but don't ask me about which team is my favorite because I don't have one. I have favorite players... I'm the sponsor of the Junior Class at my school and have been sponsor for too many clubs to mention.
Favorite Books:
I love fiction - I'm a huge Harry Potter fan. Love Anne Rice...I just love to read.
Favorite Quotes:
There's a right time and a right place for everything. -Mom
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because there's a kid out there that will benefit from what I have to offer them. It is so amazing to me when a kid comes up to me who has never drawn anything in their life and say to me, "I can't believe that I did this." What's even better is when the parent call or email me to say that I've made a difference in their child's life.
