Position:
teacher, math dept chairman, college adjunct instructor
Needs:
projection system, smart board system for classroom, classroom sets of graphing calculators such as the TI 84+ .
My Philosophy:
Anyone can do mathematics if they understand the instructions. My job is to teach them those instructions. I also believe that in our technological society, if we can provide interactive learning (hands on activities), the lessons are retained better. I am in the unique position of teaching both at a high school and a college. If my high schoolers had some of the technology available to them that my collge students do, they would be stronger math students.

All 24 years have been in Marion County. I started teaching in an alternative school, after spending one year as a teacher's aide. I spent 10 years teaching in middle schools, then moved up the high school level. I have been teaching at the community college for the last three years.
Why Do I Teach?:
Because I believe I can make a difference.
When I was in college, and told my advisor I wanted to teach, he literally fell off his chair laughing at me, because math was always a struggle for me. It wasn't that I couldn't do it, I just had to find some way to make it make some sense.... I had to work hard at it. I have learned things over my many years that make math easier. I want to share that knowledge.
