Class Description:
I have 2 Art I classes, 1 Art II class, 1 Art III class, 1 Art IV class, a VERY new and A.C.T.-I.V. art club (Art Club talent at Indian Valley), and two motived Clay Design Classes
Position:
Visual Arts Educator
Needs:
My students would benefit tremendously if we could have 4 updated computers with some art software: animation, creating portfolios, digital imaging and manipulating, etc. We could use at least 3 digital cameras since use them in all classes and right now I have one VERY used Ink cartridges for my Epsom printer / very nice printer but district is not helping with the ink
My Philosophy:
My students should be given every opportunity to develop their artistic abilities to become more centered and tolerant individuals, and to expand their personal and career possibilities. It is my hope to open that door to the possibilities. It is ALL about my students.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I am Visual Arts Educator and have been one for 26 + years. I am a "dabbler" in all forms of art. I have taught at all grade levels including college and have enjoyed being a merit badge counselor for Boy Scouts as well.
College and Degrees:
I have a B.A. degree from Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio and a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Art Technology from Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio
Activities:
I have a very wide variety of activies that I am involved in: I am in a rock band, a church choir as organist, I play several instruments, I read voraciously, and I REALLY like to cook
Favorite Books:
Harry Potter Series, Stephen Donaldson books, Christine Feehan novels, Kay Hooper's works, pretty much anything that allows me to "escape" a little at the end of the day
Interests:
anomalies, music, musical instruments, my children, arts, technology (computers and digital photography), animals (especially horses, dogs, and birds), culinary arts
Employment History:
I have taught 5-8 at a private school: Immaculate Conception in Dennison, Ohio Substitute taught at Claymont District in Uhrichsville Ohio Have been at Indian Valley Local Schools for 25 years
Why Do I Teach?:
I love seeing the abilities of my students evolve along with their sense of "self". It is a powerful feeling to give students an avenue of possibilities that they just don't get in the rest of the academic environment.
