Needs:
I am proud to be working for the newly formed Saraland City School System. Splitting from Mobile County was a big decision, and with it has come lots of work that will be totally worth it when our kids walk through the door Monday morning. Due to the fact that we had to undergo extensive renovations to have the school ready for children, technology acquisition has been on the bottom of the list. Very few of the teachers have even the most basic of technology needs in a classroom- the overhead projector! Many of us came from schools where we each had an Elmo along with a projection system which we used to connect to the internet and share the wonderful world of technology with our children. Like I said, we have nothing. Digital cameras were used frequently used in my former classroom. Anything technology-wise would be wonderful!
My Philosophy:
I believe that every child is capable of learning. However, I realize that it takes all sorts of different styles to reach from the lowest-performingof students to the high-achievers. A curriculum that has technology incorporated frequently is, in my opinion, the most effective way of reaching these children. I know from experience, having taught an inclusion classroom. I want to be able to instill in my children a LOVE of learning and an excitement that makes them want to come back to my class everyday. There is so much that can be brought to these kids through these amazing educational websites, such as Discovery United Streaming. I don't want my kids to be excluded from this opportunity, especially during this exciting time in our community.
