Our class is the optimal size if you ask me. There is enough room for the students to be comfortable. The room has five computers, a shared LCD projector and an overhead projector.
Position:
5th Grade Teacher
Needs:
Our class needs our own
technology resources. We feel fortunate to have a lab at our school, however it's difficult to get into the lab when you really need to. Our class also shares an LCD with 3 other classes. It is time consuming to track it down then to connect it and log onto the computer to find what you need.
My Philosophy:
I feel truly blessed every day that I get to teach. I realized my dream through hard work. I want my students to realize their own dreams through determination as well. I feel this is possible while keeping up with all of the advances in technology. The students can accomplish much more through the use of computers and lessons are more engaging while using the LCD and SMART Board. I love for the students to create and share with the other students. They teach each other a lot!

Employment History:
I have been at Mechanicsville for 9 years. Six years in 1st grade, then last year I moved to fourth and looped with my group. Before that, I taught at a DODDS school on a US military base in Okinawa, Japan. I taught Kindergarten and 1st grade there for three wonderful years.
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I love to learn! I love to see the excitement of students when they learn something new or difficult. When they are engrossed in the lesson and full of questions and conversations about the subject, that is the best part of teaching. Teaching is also a challenge that I thoroughly enjoy.
