This is a studio art room, emphasis on projects that explore many mediums, genre, and techniques. There is an emphasis on art as communication, art as a tool for analytical skills, art as expression, art as a history teacher, and art as a connector to our community.
Position:
Art Teacher
Needs:
This is a new classroom and new school. Immediately the need in the classroom is for the enablement of visible project demonstration. An Elmo package would be perfect. An electric kiln would also be well-used, as I transport 75 delicate clay projects across town to rent a kiln.
My Philosophy:
Art is a universal language, spanning time, cultures, and defying language barriers. It is the avenue where students can safely be self-reflective, and explain what they cannot explain in the written word. It is the place of immediate visual success, building esteem. Art should be taught to each student to equip them with a more complete education.

Why Do I Teach?:
I teach art because students are required to express themselves. This requires self-reflection, an understanding of their culture, and grappling with the issues in their life. I teach art also because as we study art, it reveals history and cultures, and teaches the student that their experiences and struggles and successes are common to mankind throughout time I also teach art beccuse as it serves the student as a means of communication, they are given a valid place in our community through our art shows.
