I have 23 students who everyday struggle to come to school. They are 23 students who each have their own story or struggle, like the child whose mother just was sent to jail, or the aunt that abuses her and her brother. They are all however, the most eager bunch of students that believe that they can go to college. They are willing to do what ever it takes to make sure that they are getting the best education possible. And at the end of the day, they are second graders who want to have fun.
Position:
Teacher
Needs:
My students need the best technology they can receive. While my students do not realize that the struggles they face are hurting them, I can see how they will or could become lost in the world. They are surrounded by people who might not believe in the education system, especially if it has failed them, and who might not be able to provide a college education for their children. My children need to believe however, that where they live will never affect the education they recieve. We live in a world where the more money you have the better education you can get, and these children need our support. Please help us with this technology. We do not have a place to learn and having this board will allow me as the teacher to use every bit of information I can and bring it to the students in a fun and exciting way.
My Philosophy:
I believe that every child no matter where they are from or where they go to school should have a world class education. I believe that it is about the determination you have and not the green in your wallet that will help these students get ahead. They need to know that being smart and believing in themselves will help them achieve anything they want.

Why Do I Teach?:
When I first graduated college, I came to DC because I needed a job and I just wanted to get my feet wet before moving to a more rural area. However, in the short time that I have been with these kids, I have decided that they are my calling. I come to school everyday because of them and because if they can come and learn, then I need to be there to give them the best education possible.
