Class Description:
We are a school in a decreasing population area. In order to maintain our exhistance, we bus students from all parts of the Salt Lake valley. Hence we have a wide variety of ethnic and economic backgrounds.
Position:
Art Teacher
Needs:
We want to start a program where we combine our art and P.E. programs together. We want to teach students how to use GPS's and digital cameras and then take them on hikes or snowshoe outtings into our beautiful canyons and use the equipment as part of our curriculum. Hence we need GPS's, digital cameras and snowshoes.
My Philosophy:
I believe that we need to prepare students for the real world. We need to use equipment and programs that are administered in the business world and in everyday life. I also believe that we need to teach the next generation to love physical activities so that they will learn to love their life and not the one they are watching on the screen. If we don't we will out-live them.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I have been teaching for 22 years. I have a master's degree in Art Education. I love junior high and find it fun and refreshing.
College and Degrees:
Bachelors of Art Education Mater'sof Art Education Endorsementin Special Education, Sociology, Native American Studies, Visual Impairment and English as a Second Language.
Activities:
I am a potter and watercolor artist. I also love photography, snowshoes, hiking and river rafting.
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I love junior high students. They delight me and make my life full. They keep me young and challenged all at the same time.
