ALL of my students are smart and can achieve greatness. Each one has his or her own obstacles that need to be overcome. It is my job to figure out how to teach each student to overcome his/her own needs. Each child has different needs and each child can succeed. The first obstacle tends to be willingness to believing in self. In addition to teaching basics, I am constantly teaching the students that they "can". I remind them how difficult their tasks are, but that they are smart. I show them the academic growth they've already made to encourage them to keep trying. If they make mistakes, I show them what they did correct and blame myself for their mistakes because I wasn't able to explain in a way that they could understand. I don't believe in failure by my students. I believe if they don't succeed that I need to try harder to find a way for them to understand. My students are my mission and I can only be successful if they are successful.
