Class Description:
Heterogenous group of seventh grade students; includes several Spanish speaking students and a small population of students receiving teacher consultant services. I teach seventh grade general science and social studies (Eastern Hemisphere and World History), as well as a literature class on Biography and Autobiography.
Position:

Needs:
Podcasting tools: microphones on headsets for biography podcasts; digital video recorders (FLIP or RCA Small Wonder)for video projects; digital cameras to use for Photostory3 and web 2.0 applications. Big ticket wishlist: Document camera and projector (would be used DAILY in class).

About Me:
I am a veteran teacher with a passion for all things using educational technology! I also love getting kids involved in their own learning. I use digital storytelling, webquests, and simulation software in my classroom.
College and Degrees:
Oakland University: BS in Elementary Education MichiganState University: MA in Classroom Teaching Currentlyworking on a second masters in Educational Technology through Michigan State University.
Activities:
I also enjoy reading, entertaining at home, walking my dog, and outdoor activities such as cross country skiing and kayaking.

Why Do I Teach?:
I love the feeling of influence I have when a really good lesson or activity is clipping along and the kids are "getting it"...the feeling of excitement and empowerment is almost tangible. When a kid says to me, "I love this class!" I know that I'm making an impact on their education, and their life.
