High school English, grades 9-12 for students needing credit recovery here at our District's alternative high school, S.T.A.R. Academic Center.
Position:
English teacher
Needs:
Our school is funded mainly by grants, because our smaller numbers don't allow our District to allocate much for us. We have next to nothing digital here on our campus. Most of what we began this year with was taken or destroyed in the three times we were vandalized and robbed. District tech support calls us a "one-lane highway capacity" for computer access/use.
My Philosophy:
The relationships I enjoy each year with students and staff maintain my constant optimism. I love the challenge to present rigorous lessons which help "my kiddos" prepare themselves for their futures.
Personal Information:

Favorite Books:
almost anything by Madeleine L'Engle; Nora Roberts; James Patterson; Jill Barnett; Jill Marie Landis; Tony Hillerman, etc., etc. :)
Favorite Quotes:
Truth is stranger than fiction.
God never answers prayers with "No". The responses are "Yes. Not yet. I have something better in mind."
Interests:
Books, gardening and cooking
Employment History:
I have been a certified teacher since 1968, and have taught every grade kindergarten through twelfth. I love being able to have such variety. My work began in LA's inner city a beach town also, and now Tucson, my present location.
Why Do I Teach?:
I love learning, and I enjoy interaction with people of all ages. I am flexible about scheduling and materials, so I consider each new year a challenge for creating empowerment twoard independence in my students.
