Saint Louis, MO
Class Information:
Room Number: 112
Students per Class: 6
Class Description:
As a Title I Teacher I work with students in small groups of about six at a time. All of the students in my caseload are in need of academic interventions and/or remediation. Through the course of a day, I service about forty-two second through eighth grade students by helping them to improve their math and/or reading and writing skills.
Position:
Title I Teacher/Grades 2-8
Needs:
Our classroom needs more access to technology that can help us to explore the world of math and reading tools that are available to enhance student learning in these areas. There are so many ways that this can add to our learning environment including making learning more interactive, engaging, and accessible to all types of learners.
My Philosophy:
I believe that everyone can and will learn given the right motivation, learning tools and directives, and opportunities. In order to achieve success in learning there must be a commitment from the learners and the teachers. This would mean that each individual has accountability and must do their part to fulfill the learning goals which must be agreed upon and attainable. With all of this in place, students are prepared to be successful and have a stake in their success not only in their community of learners, but as citizens of their greater communities.

University of Missouri-Saint Louis: Bachelor of Science In Elementary Education with Certifications in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and Masters in Elementary Education with Special Certification in Reading K-12 (Reading Specialist Certification)

Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I can support young learners in their educational processes and help provide positive learning experiences to diverse learners from all backgrounds. Moreover, I enjoy being around children and watching them explore the environment and create their own learning experiences while I help to facilitate these same experiences. Through my own knowledge and experiences I believe I offer my students a supportive, safe, encouraging, and innovative learning environment. As a teacher, I realize that not only do my students learn from me, but I too learn a lot from them.
