I am an 8th grade teacher in the Pico/Union area of Los Angeles. I teach a high need, at risk ESL population in downtown Los Angeles where students have learned more about the thug life than real life. I love teaching in this crazy environment where every day is a challenge and teaching really is the most important thing you can do to help these kids!
In order to prepare these kids for their future, we need to integrate more technology in the classroom, digital cameras, laptops, math and science software. In a world where they are already judged by their ethnicity, gender, socio-economic status, and neighborhood, let's make education the great equalizer.
