A wide variety of abilities; I teach students alternate math and reading, as well as organization skills, life skills, work skills, etc. My class is very diverse in their abilities and backgrounds. It is challenging to meet such a large scope of needs during a single time span.
Position:
Special Education
Needs:
Technology that allows kids to be working on individualized goals and needs at the same time, and allows me to chart and monitor their progress toward the goals. Allowing students to work in a variety of modes would be a need of mine as well, as some students learn well through audio versus visual, lecture versus tactile, etc. Technology would make my students much more successful and give me more resources to assist them in their learning!
My Philosophy:
Each kid can learn. It's up to me to find how they best learn and use that to teach them the things they need to be the best person they can be.

Worked with various children with disabilities throughout high school and beyond, then worked at a hospital as an ER dispatch through college. My first teaching job was in 2003 at a local school (that my children go to) for 1.5 years and then at the school I'm at for (this is my) 4 years. I still work with children with disabilities outside of school from time to time!
Why Do I Teach?:
I want to help these kids be successful. I want them to gain the skills they need to be successful here and now, at school and home and community, and help them maintain skills to be successful in their futures.
