Class Description:
I teach in a inner-city school that tries its best to meet the needs of its students. In the inner-city, there is more need than money to go around. I share classrooms with other teachers all day long. My students try to learn, but as the case with most inner-city students, they have been to several different schools which has caused gaps in there knowledge base. I am also encountering a generation that is all about technology. Cell phones, mp3s, hand held video games, and the internet does not compare with a book filled with numbers. Old fashion methods just don't cut it, so I have tried to face this head on with power-point lessons displayed on a projector.

My Philosophy:
I believe that each student has his/her own needs, and I try to meet them on individual levels. I also believe that technology is the way the world is now and will be for generations to come. School is meant to prepare students for the real-world, but it comes up short when it comes to using technology to prepare them.

About Me:
I have a huge heart and a lot of passion. I am the type of person that could do anything, but I have to be true to my heart. I had a professor once ask me, "Why do you want to teach, your wasting your ability on those who don't deserve it?" My response was, "They need it the most." I eat, sleep, and live to teach future generations. Most of all I love the hard cases. In the end I believe that if I reach just one person, I have done something great.
College and Degrees:
Central Michigan University, B.S. in Education, mathematics major and business education minor. Eastern Michigan University, currently enrolled for my Masters in Business Administration. (I plan to open my own school one day)
Activities:
Right now, I'm full with a new husband, puppy, teaching and school so I am in active in the social area. However, I enjoy bowling, habitat for humanity, and softball.

Employment History:
This is my second year as a teacher, and I only wanted Detroit Public Schools since I got my degree. Single minded I obtained employment with them.
Why Do I Teach?:
I had a difficult life and I had to work to be a productive member of society. I beat the odds, and I want to help others with difficult situations beat the odds too. Besides there is nothing like the moment in a child's face when they go from frustration to complete understanding.
