This is a very diverse student population with students from over 70 different cultures and from all socioeconomic backgrounds and all levels of academic achievement. The entire student population uses the resources of the library and/or draws upon the knowledge base of the library media specialist several times an advisory (especially when reports or projects are due).
The goal of this media center's program is to provide the materials, technologies, supports and exposures to provide each student a world class education preparing them for college going, personal and career success and a lifelong appreciation of independent reading, thinking and research.

We need media and technologies to prepare our students to survive and thrive in this 21st century (and complete their classroom assignments). We need to improve the environment to make it more inviting and user friendly for adolescents.

Over 70 years of research consistently aligns strong library programs with high academic achievement. The high school library media center, as the school's center for independent study, research, information product development.and recreational reading, must deliver the pedagogues, technologies, environments and encouragements that best engage each student, support each teacher, motivate academic interest and instill effective lifelong learning habits,
