I teacher 7th grade through 10th grade in Moorestown Township Public Schools. My students are all considered novice mid-novice high language learners, with Spanish as a second (or third) language. As a teacher of World Language, I want to make learning and communication relevant to their lives and meaningful for their futures. My goal is to build communicative compentence in Spanish from the beginning levels and encourage my students to continue with their language learning. Even though my students arrive in September with very little second language skills, I intend to mold them into lifelong learners. I am a believe in authentic communication, and feel that one of the best ways to connect with my students in through technology. The students are accustomed to using various forms of technology to communicate, including text messaging, instant messaging and cell phone communcation. As a language teacher it is important that I incorporate this new technology into furthering their linguistic proficiency. Podcasting is an ingenious way to encourage authentic communication through a new mode.
Position:
Spanish Teacher
Needs:
I need the podcasting bundle to accomplish this task. While using the computer lab is fine for now, podcasting would take communication wireless, and this would afford me the opportunity to assess the children in the classroom, and allow them to communicate with each other, and hopefully a room full of students in a different country, from the tip of their fingertips!

Why Do I Teach?:
I teach Spanish because I believe all children can learn a second language successfully if given the right tools and proper encouragement. There are over 30 million Spanish speakers in the USA, and it is my goal to educate my children to be able to communicate with native speakers of Spanish on at least an intermediate level. I want my students to see Spanish as a mode of communication essential to their lives and future carreers.
