I have a WONDERFUL class of 18 energetic, curious second graders! They love "hands-on" learning, and are highly motivated by current technology! We have a wide range of learners in our learning community, and we are fortunate to be a diverse group!
Position:
teacher
Needs:
Because of the wide range of learners, it is important to meet the individual needs of the students, taking into consideration their learning styles, motivation, appropriate developmental level, and other needs. For this reason, it is important for my students to have the latest technology in the classroom to not only meet their individual needs, but also to make them competitive globally for the 21st century world they live in.
My Philosophy:
As a National Board Certified teacher, I believe that my students belong to a community of learners, and that ALL my students have an important role to play to help in the learning process. I believe that each child has strengths to build on, each child CAN learn and grow, and that it is my responsibility to find the techniques and resources to unlock the potential in each child. My goal is for each of my students to feel loved, safe, successful, challenged, and to become a productive, contributing member of our society. It is a privilege to work with the young children and their families in our community, and I can't think of a better profession!

Why Do I Teach?:
Teaching is the most rewarding profession. Most of my experience has been teaching first grade, a grade of monumental growth for students, as they learn to read and write. There is nothing more rewarding than to see when "the light bulb" goes on! As students grow in academic skills, their self-esteem grows, and the intangible rewards of the job grow, also. As I was writing this, a student that I had in first grade just visited and brought Christmas cookies! He is 17 years old now! I get very close with not only my students, by their families, also! It doesn't get any better than this--to know that I have touched a life! I couldn't ask for any better job in the world!
