Students per Class: Approx. 1800 (350 PK-2, 250 gr. 3-4, 250 gr. 5-6, 900 gr. 7-12)
Class Description:
I serve all students, from grades PK-12, in a middle to lower class school district located northwest of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio.
Position:
Library Media Specialist
Needs:
We have many needs, but my number one need at the high school is for a mobile laptop cart. We currently have 20 desktop computers in the library media center, but there is a tremendous need for more computers. A class set that could be used both in the library media center and checked out to teachers would revolutionize learning at Finneytown High School. Teachers would be able to create more interactive lessons using webquests, giving students the "hands-on" experience they need to develop 21st century technological skills.
My Philosophy:
Learning in the 21st century depends upon the use of technology. Students in school districts that are able to afford cutting-edge technologies have a huge advantage over students in less wealthy districts. If we are truly concerned about leaving no children behind, we need to bridge the digital divide and give all students equal access to 21st century technologies and the skills that will enable them to compete globally.
