Class Information:
Room Number: 14
Students per Class: 36
Class Description:
My students are are proud to be 1st generation of language learners, collegebound, and barrier breakers. They are, primarily, from lower income neighborhoods who qualify for free/reduced lunch, with limited experiences outside of their neighborhood, much less the city. They crave knowledge and always want to learn more but learn in non-traditional ways. Often the classroom is a place of struggle and frustration. They want to be successful and creative as they explore new ideas and new places.
Position:
Lead Teacher
Needs:
We need technology! Paper, pencils, and textbooks do not meet the learning styles of my students. They are, mostly, visual learners who enjoy seeing the lesson unfold right before their eyes. Tablets and Chromebooks will connect my students to the world and give them access to engaging online activities.
My Philosophy:
"There are five important things for living a successful and fulfilling life: never stop dreaming, never stop believing, never give up, never stop trying, and never stop learning." ~Roy T. Bennett

Why Do I Teach?:
I decided at 7 years I wanted to change the world! I played “teacher” every afternoon, with my stuffed animals learning everything I had that day. From 7 years old until I graduated from college, I took advantage of every opportunity that allowed me the ‘teacher experience’; I helped my aunt in her classroom, volunteered as a teacher assistant during Summer School, and participated as a Teacher Cadet in high school. I graduated from college and knew changing the world of one student who have a ripple effect of good in the world. I LOVE learning and want to share knowledge. I want to inspire conversations, build confidence, and nurture diverse thinkers- foster a love of learning. I enjoy being a part of a community that develops the future. Grow every one, every day.
