Class Description:
We are a large and hard working classroom!
Position:
3rd Grade Teacher
Needs:
In lieu of a Smartboard, I am going to set up a Nintendo Wiimote interactive whiteboard using a wiimote, LCD projector, my computer, and the Smoothboard software. To do this will cost about $150 for all supplies (wiimote, software registration, ceiling mount, IR pens). I am also trying to acquire my own LCD projector so I can have a dedicated projector mounted in my room at all times instead of having to check one of few out every morning.
My Philosophy:
I believe every student is capable of learning. It is the teacher's job to hold their students to high expectations and teach lessons in ways that engage and captivate the students.

About Me:
The 2009/2010 school year will be my first year teaching! I graduated form Eastern Illinois University over the summer and am very excited to begin. I am very tech savvy and love using technology in the classroom. I even taught a robotics class using the Lego Mindstorms NXT kits over the summer!

Favorite Books:
I love Ray Kurzweil's books and generally any books about the impact of technology. I also enjoy science fiction and fantasy like Harry Potter and The Mote in God's Eye.

I am a first year teacher at Cooke Magnet School in Waukegan, IL.
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I love the personal rewards that come with the job. I love seeing the students grasp a new concept or get excited about a new idea. I also love the creativity that teaching affords me.
