Class Description:
I introduce technology to 6th graders. In my class students learn basic operations and concepts such as keyboarding and microsoft office. Students will demonstrate knowledge of technology communications tools thorough learning how to write emails and blogging with one another. Internet safety is extremely important in today's society so in my class I teach responsible use of technology.

Needs:
I want to design and develop digital-age learning experiences and assessments for students. I need digital cameras, digital camcorders, digital voice recorders for some of the ideas that I have for creating digital-age learning.
My Philosophy:
Teach a child how to think not what to think.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I originally wanted to be a news anchor or news producer and was that was my main focus in college. However, sometime into my junior year of college I got a job as a teaching assistant for a class. It was during this time that I realized my calling in life was to be a teacher. Instead of chaning my major with 20 credits until graduation, I chose to get my alternative certification. Now I am a 6th grade teacher at Astec Charter Middle School. I love my job and know I am doing what I was born to do.
College and Degrees:
I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a BA in Journalism with emphasis in Broadcast and Electronic Media
Activities:
I play on a Co-Ed softball team in the summers. I also enjoy running and plan on running a 5K on Thanksgiving morning. I also coach an Odyssey of the Mind team at school.

I love the Odyssey and Illiad by Homer. I just finished reading the Twilight series and can't wait to see the movie, and I am

Interests:
I am interesting in technology and how it works. I love learning new things and sharing my discoveries with those around me. My friends always tease that I know so many random facts about so many different things!

Why Do I Teach?:
I teach to inspire students to be the best people they can. I grew up in a low income house hold and put myself through college through my own will and determination. I want to show students that anything is possible as long as they work hard and put their minds to it they can achieve anything!
