I teach computer technology in a lab setting where I have 33 imac computers and a Promethean interactive whiteboard. My students learn how to use computers in everyday life other than to play games. I teach about being safe when in cyberspace and how to use technology respectfully. The students learn how to use various applications that teach word processing, presentations, podcasting, photography, video creation, music making just to name a few!
Position:
Computer Tech. teacher
Needs:
We have digital cameras that we started using last year. We also have 5 flip video cameras but that does not provide enough cameras to use with the average number of students in my class which is 30. I would like to have at least one camera for every student. My class limit is 33 so having 33 flip cameras would be best. Since we do use the digital cameras, we also need photo paper as well as a good printer to print the photos. We also need a scanner so that we can use photos from other sources for our multimedia presentations.
My Philosophy:
Students should be exposed to all the technology that is available to them from an early age and be able to use it appropriately. We are in a digital age and have no idea where our students careers will take them We do know however that technology will play an enormous role so we must get them ready.
