Fratney St School
Hometown:
Milwaukee, WI
Class Information:
Room Number: Library
Students per Class: I see all the students in the school 400+
Class Description:
I am the school's librarian and instructional technology leader. I see all students in our school one day each week.
Position:
librarian/ instructional technology leader
Needs:
Need more tools to continue podcasting with the students. In need of copyright-free music software to incorporate with podcasts. After completing a photography project with our students, we could use several digital cameras to be checked out of the library by students.
My Philosophy:
Weekly I aim to develop in students the joy that can be found by reading. I mostly do this by showcasing the wide variety of books we have in our library, which contains books in two languages of every topic the students might be interested in. I also understand the place of technology in our times and how our students need to be taught using 21st century tools. Presently I aim to develop an understanding in teachers of the benefits of incorporating technology in their instruction. I have always believed in teaching constructively, that is hands-on, where teachers and students work together and learn together. I thoroughly believe that learning is messy, it is when we make mistakes that we learn best so as long as I can motivate my students to try, half the battle is won.
