The 8th grade computer technology course is taught in a lab with one computer for every three students. They work in groups throughout the course. For projects utilizing audio, the groups have been sharing the five microphones that I had previously purchased on my own. It would be great to have a complete set for each group to have a microphone when they need it.

Class Description:
I teach three courses in the 8th grade: Computer Technology, Journalism, and Literature. I use two different classrooms during the day, one of which is a 10-computer lab.

Needs:
I am all about technology! While my school has a lot of resources (I have seen and worked at place more in need), I like to be able to expose my students to as many emerging technologies as possible. They are the ones who will be using new technologies in their future jobs, so they can use as much experience as they can get!

About Me:
I in my 5th year of teaching, but my first year at my current school. I teach three different subjects this year, which has been a challenge for me, but I am finally getting the hang of things.
College and Degrees:
Mississippi State University: B.S. Secondary Ed. (English) The University of Alabama: M.A. Secondary Ed. (Computers & Applied Technology)
Activities:
When I'm not trying to stay caught up on posting grades & lesson plans, I like to spend time with my family, including my husband and our 2-year old daughter & 3-year old dog.

I enjoy reading, using computer technology, and I have recently taken up sewing & embroidery.
Employment History:
For the first four years of my teaching career (2004-2008), I taught 7th grade English at Northside Middle School in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. I am now in my first year at Monrovia Middle School in Madison County, also in Alabama.
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I enjoy helping young people gain the knowledge and skills that will help them become the best versions of themselves.
