Pre-K Inclusion (11 typically-developing,4 with special needs)
Position:
Teacher
Needs:
Our 4 special needs students have autism and our newest friend is also Deaf. Two of them are completely non-verbal and the other two are slowly learning to use some spontaneous language. They are all working on basic communication, pre-academic skills, writing/fine motor tasks, and social-behavioralskills.
My Philosophy:
You won't know what kids can do if you don't set the expectation that they CAN achieve it. My students are not allowed to say, "I can't." We teach them to say, "I'm still learning, can you please help me?" Even the students with special needs are expected to try everything as independently as possible and are rewarded for the tiniest steps with PRAISE!
