I teach in a school that is transitioning to include more and more low-income, special education, and second language students. However, our budget has not adjusted to meet these new needs so we are always on the hunt for ways to not be "victims" of these issues.

About Me:
This is my 18th year of teaching. I have taught mostly at the 2nd and 3rd grade level. I am a master teacher with National Board Certification and was awarded the prestigious "Disney Outstanding Elementary Teacher" award in 2006.
College and Degrees:
Bachelor of Science in Education from Baylor University
Masterof Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Colorado.
Additional 90 semester hours of Educational Psychology coursework from Adams State College.
Activities:
In the school my passions bleed over to my students. We incorporate reading and community service into almost every subject. I also sponsor the school reading club and KKids (Kiwanis service club for kids).
Favorite Books:
I prefer fiction both when I read for enjoyment and when I read to my students. I prefer books with thoughtful, caring characters and moral lessons. Personally my favorite books are too numerous to list but include the "Yada Yada" series. My favorite children's book to use in the classroom might be "I Wish I Were A Butterfly".
