Learning Gate Charter School

Class Description:
My class is a first grade inclusion classroom. I currently have 19 students and work on a team with 2 other first grade teachers. We are at an environmental friendly charter school. We have the nation's first modular classrooms to be registered for Platinum certification from the US Green Building Council (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED(R)) for Schools program. Virtually every aspect of the green building is recycled, renewable, or organic. Our class does a majority of our learning outside on our 30 acres of woodlands and ponds. It is a living classroom where we focus all of our efforts on traditional studies in an eco friendly nontraditional classroom our environment. Our students are counting items in nature; they are reading in the fresh air, they are learning to be advocates and stewards for their earth. We also have an organic garden which our students till, seed, harvest, and maintain. It is unlike any other classroom or school I have ever been a part of. The technology I am seeking would allow us ways to capture our learning and share out enthusiasm and appreciation while leaving our environment exactly the way we found it and still be able to share this with other educators, family members, and friends through pictures and technology.
