The art room sees students from grade k2 through grade 8. In our classroom we have six large tables which seat 4 children for art production. Things we have done this year? Painting, drawing, printmaking, clay sculpture, weaving and even creating a giant 25 foot inflated sea serpent!
Position:
art teacher
Needs:
A Flip camera and some inexpensive digital camera for the students to use. We have 3 digital cameras already but one has a lens that only opens half way. We also would like to start and after school program introducing students to computer animation and web design.
My Philosophy:
Every child needs art in their life! Every child can make art and draw, they just need the opportunity to learn the basics. I believe in offering a wide range of art experiences in which a child can find his/her strengths and learn confidence and strive for success.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I am a working artist, painter, and have been teaching art to grades 1 through 8 for 16 years.
College and Degrees:
I have a BFA in painting from Massachusetts College of Art.
Activities:
When not teaching I am an oil painter.
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I love sharing my love of art with my students. I learn as much from them as they learn from me. Seeing the excitement they exhibit through the discoveries they make and helping them to have confidence in their skills and art.
