Class Description:
ELA classroom in a suburban New York neighborhood. Over 80% of the children attending school in our district recieve free or reduced luch. Our community is 48% African-American and 52% Hispanic. We have a substanial population of ELL and new immigrants in our community.
Position:
English Teacher
Needs:
The majority of our district residents live at or below poverty and therefore most of our students are not familar with the use of any technology. Our computer labs have approxiamtely 35 computers total and only one working printer. We are in desparate need of computers, cameras, and software to assist our students in entering high school and the community. They will be severely limited in the professions they choose without vital technological skills.
