A SMARTboard would benefit my classroom tremendously. The SMARTboard creates opportunities for higher levels of engagement in whole group instruction. Students who benefit from repetition, struggling learners, and those absent from school could see the exact presentation that occurred in my classroom along with the audio input. We could create e-folios, teach keyboarding skills, reinforce skills using interactive websites, create student and teacher presentations, work with digital storytelling, use it with Kidspiration, teach students how to navigate the internet, illustrate and write a book as a class and record the text narration, have students share projects for parent-teacher conferences, make an electronic word wall – the possibilities are endless! This opportunity would allow my classroom to be actively engaged in more frequent group participation, have frequent interaction and feedback, and connect to real-world experts and experiences. The use of technology would be a classroom routine and would support our curricular goals.
