I teach earth science. We study rocks, minerals, mountains, volcanoes, earthquakes, and ecosystems.
We have built earthquake proof houses, done "breaking news reports from volcanoes" and tried to hatch chickens this year. We have had a year long compost bin project where we turned newspaper into dirt with the help of a few dozen worms.

Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because teaching is exciting. I get to share my life with 180 young people and they share their lives with me. I learn something new everyday and I love being a life long learner. Current events become meaningful,. Society's troubles and triumphs are apparent in my classroom. Teaching helps me make a positive difference in my part of the world.
