I lead and facilitate face-to-face and virtual field trips to the Gaylord-Pickens Museum and Oklahoma Heritage Association in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I am the co-director of our statewide Celebrate Oklahoma Voices digital storytelling project, which provides professional development and equipment to Oklahoma teachers focused on oral history and the digital storytelling process.
Position:
Director of Technology and Education Outreach
Needs:
I/we need additional equipment to lead and facilitate a variety of field trip experiences and professional development workshops for learners of all ages.
My Philosophy:
Experience is a powerful teacher. When learning new ideas or skills, nothing beats being able to have a direct, hands-on experience. Learning experiences can often be more powerful, long-lasting in terms of retention and transfer, and even transformative when they involve the use of blended technologies and learning contexts. By encouraging learners to create, collaborate and communicate as a natural part of the learning process, as well as encouraging students to create authentic knowledge products to demonstrate their mastery of knowledge and skills, more engaging and worthwhile opportunities for students can be offered.
I love to learn and to help others learn. I teach with the hope that I can inspire, share, and grow as a co-learner with my students and fellow teachers.
